Thanks to all our community partners who joined us today at Indee Impact, our annual HIgh School career fair! We had over 20 local businesses join us for breakout sessions, a Human Resource panel, and booths in the gymnasium. Special shout out to Geater Manufacturing for their donation of metal ...blanks which were used to provide each business with an engraved coin! #MustangsOnAMission

Mrs. Stainbrook, Ms. Martinson, and many dedicated students joined forces with the women’s auxiliary and the VFW to prepare for Memorial Day. Together, they adorned the cemetery with flags and crosses as a tribute to those who have served our country.

Throughout the school year, Mr. ...Anderson and his wood shop students crafted the crosses, while several students added their artistic touch ensuring each one was ready for display. It's heartwarming to witness such community spirit in honoring our veterans. #MustangMoments

Director of Food Service Pam Wendel had the honor of spending Monday, May 20, 2024 at the 2nd Annual Guns & Hoses Bowling Tournament hosted at the 319 Social House here in Independence. This event raised $1500 with a very generous donation coming from Office Towne. These funds will be used to ...pay negative lunch balances. The winning team of Adam & Katie Kuhse, Lindsay O'Loughlin and Roy Nichols donated their winnings back as well! A check will be presented to the school district on May 31.

We would love to thank all that attended (Independence Police Department, Independence Fire Department, Buchanan County Emergency Management, Buchanan County Sheriff's Department, and the Iowa State Patrol) and for your generosity!
We are so blessed to live in such a caring community!

Today at the Jr/Sr High School, Mr. Ohrt and Pam Wendel fired up the grill and served some sizzling bratwurst and frankfurters for our amazing students and staff! It was a perfect day to enjoy some delicious food. A huge shoutout to everyone who joined us for this tasty treat. #MustangMoments

Our Food Service department harvested another 40 cups of rhubarb from the school garden. We're proud to serve locally grown foods to our students! #MustangsOnAMission

The Independence Community School District, along with the students of the 2023-24 Building Trades class, would like to cordially invite you to our open house. This year's house is a 2 bedroom, 2 bath home with 1,190 sq ft of living space and a 964 sq ft attached garage. The great-room style... kitchen, dining, and living room looks out onto the backyard patio. The master bedroom has a master bath, a walk-in closet, and in-suite laundry. The house is located close to the Independence Schools and will be on the market soon! Please come see the house and meet the students, sponsors, and teachers.

Please help us thank our building sponsors Rem Scott and Jared Donnelly (Precision Plumbing and Heating) for funding this project. Chad Beatty for arranging his busy work and coaching schedules to be our lead teacher on the project. Bob Beatty for sharing his time and knowledge. As well as Christian Skubal (Smedley Electric) for teaching our students basic electrical skills.

Without our community supporters, the Independence Building Trades Program would not be possible. Thank you!
