Several of our 8th graders just returned from an incredible trip. From exploring the bustling streets of Chicago to walking in the footsteps of history at Gettysburg and Washington DC, they've had an unforgettable adventure! It was a week of learning, laughter, and making memories that will ...last a lifetime. Huge thanks to the chaperones who made this trip possible! #MustangMoments

The Independence PTO hosted a “Day of Awesome” for our elementary students to celebrate the end of the school year. It was filled with lots of energy & smiles.
Have a great summer! #MustangMoments

Mrs. Ohrt's 4th graders and Mrs. Jahnel's first graders celebrated a successful year of being book buddies with a book outside, chalk, and a snack! #MustangMoments

Fourth graders participated in Baseball Day! Students started the day playing whiffle ball. They then enjoyed sunflower seeds and bubble gum. Next up was the dizzy bat race and dodgeball. They ended their day watching the movie Sandlot and enjoying popcorn and M&M's. #MustangMoments

During computer science, East and West students had a friendly competition to see which classes could earn the title of being Legends of Awesomeness!! They could earn stars or paper clips when they were caught showing kindness, going above and beyond, and needing 0 reminders to stay on task. The ...winning team from West was Harbaugh's 4th grade class! The winning team from East was Mitchell's 1st grade class! These two classes partnered together to learn some basic hardware on Ozobots and tested its line navigation! They will also be known as Legends of Awesomeness and their group photo will be displayed in the computer science room at West next school year!

The 2nd place winners from each building came in so closely that they too were able to participate! Thome's 6th grade class was partnered with Krogh's 2nd grade class. Everyone did such an awesome job collaborating and being so kind to each other! So proud! And on that note, this wraps up the first year for computer science!

6th graders Kilah Fratzke and Aiden Halligan took their Ozobot City Project to the next level! They did a wonderful job collaborating on the design of the physical and coding aspects of this project. Extra time was even spent outside of computer science class to hot glue added features to the homes and businesses. Great job, computer scientists! #MustangsOnAMission

On Friday, May 24, the HS Student Council helped Building Direction for Families put together 600 food sacks for children to help ensure that they have food over the summer months. It was a great way to end the year with the current and new council members! #MustangsOnAMission

Allison Kleve and Zach Jimmerson represented Indpendence at the State Co-Ed Tennis Meet on Tuesday! #MustangsOnAMission
