Support the Student Food Drive!

The Independence Student Council is participating in a Student Food Drive sponsored by the Northeast Iowa Food Bank from now until November 5th. We are competing against other Northeast Iowa area schools to see who can collect the most donations of shelf-stable food items, personal care items, and monetary donations. Our goal is to collect the most “meals”. 1 meal is equivalent to 1.2 pounds of shelf-stable food items and $1 is equivalent to 4 meals. All of the proceeds we collect will come back to our local food pantries. The winning school will receive a cash prize of $1,000. To collect the most donations we can, we are reaching out to our community. Our first community event is a trick-or-treat for canned goods and monetary donations. On the 31st of October, we will be going door-to-door asking for donations for our food drive. This will be at the same time as the city-wide trick-or-treating 5:30 p.m.to 7 p.m. Please know that we will try to cover as much of the city as possible in the time frame. If we miss you, please consider bringing any donations to the high school or making a monetary donation using the QR code. Thank you!
