Volunteer & Mentor Program

Here at Independence, we offer both volunteer and mentoring programs. Many of our programs offer wonderful opportunities for community members to participate and offer their time and talent. We love to work with those who are willing and able to make a difference in the lives of our youth and children.

To become involved in the volunteer or mentor program, please see the Volunteer & Mentor Program website or contact our program coordinator.

Volunteer Program

The mission of our volunteer program is to involve committed and talented volunteers in a valued partnership with teachers and staff to enrich the lives of our students to become effective communicators, problem solvers, responsible citizens, and productive people. Volunteering opportunities include things such as being a door greeter or a teacher's assistant/support. For more information on the volunteer program, please see the Volunteer section of the Volunteer & Mentor Program website.

Mustang Mentoring

Mustang Mentoring is our school-based Student Mentor Program serving K-12 students district-wide. Adult mentors are matched with students and build a friendship that mentors the student in the areas of attitude, attendance, and social skills. Mentors meet with students 30-45 minutes per week during the school day, on school grounds, and during the school year. This is a year-long (August-May) commitment for both the student and mentor. For more information on the volunteer program, please see the Student Mentor Program section of the Volunteer & Mentor Program website.
