Beatty Family Donation to American Trotter Trail Recognized

December 3, 2014 (Independence, IA) – The Independence Community School District (ICSD) extends their appreciation to another recent donor to the American Trotter Trail project, the Beatty family.  The Beatty family made a donation of a bench, trash receptacle and light in the memory of their wife, mother and grandmother, Jean; honoring her with two plaques on the bench that read, “In Loving Memory of Jean E. Beatty 1951-2012” and “Jean E. Beatty, Daughter – Sister – Wife – Mother – Aunt – Grandmother – Friend”.

Jean, originally from Jesup, married Jim Beatty and moved to Independence to raise their two sons, Chad and Travis. She enjoyed attending all of their school events. When Jean’s oldest son, Chad, started coaching, she continued to attend many of the games as she knew all the parents and enjoyed watching the new generation play.

If Jean wasn’t watching the kids play, you could find her on the water. She loved being on the pontoon enjoying the company of friends and family alike. Although Jean’s life ended far too early, her passion for life was unmatched; her grandkids, family and friends can testify that Jean lived life to the fullest.

The Beatty family agreed, “It is only fitting that Jean’s bench sits overlooking a body of water, near the school where her grandchildren will attend and in between two of her long places of employment; the Mental Health Institute and the original Walmart where she worked for 29 Years.”

“Family, friends, water and fun were what mattered most. She genuinely cared for everyone she encountered in her life whether she knew them for 60 years or for a brief 30 second conversation while assisting them at Walmart”, stated Chad Beatty.

Making a donation to the American Trotter Trail is a distinctive way to remember an achievement, publicize your business name, recognize a graduating class or honor a loved one; such as the Beatty family did.
