Craig Family Makes Donation to ICSD American Trotter Trail

November 11, 2015 (Independence, IA) – The Mustang Foundation, Inc. and the Independence Community School District (ICSD) would like to extend their appreciation to a recent donor of the American Trotter Trail project, the Sally Craig family.

Education has always been an important value in the Craig family; having each of their four children receive 13 years of education in the Independence Community School District, this donation seemed like a fitting way to memorialize their family. The Craig family made a donation of a bench and trash receptacle, located in front of the new Junior/Senior High School, honoring their family with a plaque on a bench that reads, “Given by Sally, Frank, Laurie, Sue, Anne and Andy Craig”.

“This new educational complex with kindergarten through twelfth grade is a great addition to Independence as it will help bring families and businesses to town. I recall when the original elementary and middle school opened and know the significance this new building and complex bring to the future generations of students,” stated Sally Craig.

Making a donation to the American Trotter Trail is a unique way to honor a family, recognize a graduating class (Class of XXXX), remember an achievement (XXXX State Champs), or publicize your business name to all who frequent the trail.

Community members have access to this paved trail on part of the Independence Community School District’s 92 acres. The American Trotter Trail name is in honor of the late C.W. Williams who owned a horse racing publication in the 1890’s called, The American Trotter, and also had a nationally recognized kite-shaped horse racing track, located primarily on the school’s 92 acres.  The American Trotter Trail connects all three school buildings, creating a unified campus.
