ICSD Seniors Take NCRC Test
April 7, 2015 (Independence, IA) – Recently, Independence Community School District (ICSD) seniors took the ACT National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) test. The NCRC is a portable credential that demonstrates achievement and workplace employability skills in Applied Mathematics, Locating Information and Reading for Information.
The ACT website states that, “These assessment areas measure real world skills that employers believe are critical to job success. Test questions are based on situations in the everyday work world. The ACT NCRC was launched in 2006; today more than 2.3 million certificates have been issued.”
Principal Howard is pleased to share that of the 69 seniors who took the NCRC assessment, 11 received a Bronze certificate; 30 received a Silver certificate; and 10 received a Gold certificate.

Principal Howard states, “Overall, I was very pleased with the students’ efforts and scores on the NCRC exam. They scored high in many of the content areas. Further, some individual students did extremely well by scoring in the platinum levels in certain subjects. In general, these scores showed that the Independence Jr/Sr High School staff, teachers and parents are preparing our seniors well for success in the future, which is the ultimate goal of any secondary school. As the principal, I am extremely proud of this fact. The Class of 2015 has set a great example for future students on the NCRC test, and we look forward to having future students score high as well”.
