Independence FFA Chapter Officers Elected

September 09, 2013 (Independence, IA) – Just three weeks into the start of the 2013-2014 school year and the new Agriculture Education Program at Independence Jr./Sr. High School is off to a fantastic start. After a nearly 50-year absence, the program is back in full swing and has begun the process of meeting the requirements to have an officially chartered FFA chapter.

One of these steps includes electing a chapter officer team to serve as leaders for the upcoming year. Interested students submitted an application, sought out recommendations from 2 adults and participated in individual interviews.  A diverse group of community members assisted with interviewing the 13 candidates. Following the evening of interviews the following students were selected to fill the six available officer positions.

President: Stephanie McMillan
Vice-President: Mark Thompson
Treasurer- Cecily Corkery
Secretary- Brittney Fuller
Reporter- Molly Gustafson
Sentinel- Hope Staker

This group of leaders has an exciting year ahead of them as they complete the chartering process, establish a program of activities, attend leadership conferences and lead their fellow FFA members during chapter activities!
