Independence FFA Members Find Success at Buchanan County Fair

Over the course of the Buchanan County Fair, July 8th through July 13th over 10 members from the Independence FFA chapter were exhibiters. Leah Rosauer, Mark Thompson, Haylee Lau, Luke Lawless, Jarret Orr, Jacob Wolf, and Hunter Crawford all showed in the Beef show. Spencer Shonka showed in the Dairy show winning his showmanship class. Matt Bolton was an exhibiter in the swine show while Elijah Michels also showed sheep. Sydney Etten showed her horse winning overall reserve horse. Finally Tanner Erickson-Dale restored a tractor in Ag Mechanics earning a blue ribbon. These projects were a great highlight to many hours that FFA members dedicate to their projects over the course of the year.

Members showed support for the fair by working both entrance gates at the fair, baking and auctioning off a pie and buckets of flowers.

Upcoming summer events for the Independence FFA Chapter include attending the Iowa State Fair where 5 members will be showing. Haylee Lau, Leah Rosauer, and Mark Thompson will be showing in the FFA beef show. Tanner Erickson-Dale will be exhibiting his restored tractor and Sydney Etten will be showing in the FFA horse show while also representing Independence FFA in the Cowgirl Queen Contest.
