In addition to the 500 yard freestyle, Dylan also swam in the 200 meter freestyle, finishing in 5th place, the 200 meter freestyle relay, finishing in 15th place and the 400 meter freestyle relay, finishing in 12th place.
After swimming well at the state swim meet, Moffatt was also named an Elite Pick for the All-Iowa Boy’s Swimming Team. The athletes will be honored at an awards ceremony in June at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.
This is the first year Independence Community School District (ICSD) has partaken in sharing swimming with Cedar Falls. As part of the agreement, any ICSD students that were interested in signing up for competitive swimming attended practices and meets as part of the Cedar Falls swimming and diving teams.
Athletic Director Justin Putz states, “One of our goals as an activities department has been to continue to provide our students with more quality opportunities for participation in things that they are passionate about. Sharing a swimming program with Cedar Falls High School has allowed us to join a quality program to allow our students an opportunity to swim competitively with a high school team. This first year sharing program with Cedar Falls has gone well and we hope to continue to provide this opportunity for our students.”
