Mustangs Name New Food Service Director
April 1, 2015 (Independence, IA) – The Independence Community School District (ICSD) is excited to welcome Annette Harbaugh to the school staff. Harbaugh has filled the role of Food Service Director.
Harbaugh has an extensive career in the Food Service field. Prior to taking her position with ICSD, she served as the Food Service Director at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester for eight years. Before that, she was the Assistant Food Service Director and head cook at the West Delaware Community School District for eight years. Annette worked at the Rockwell Collins Manchester location for 11 years before fulfilling her passion of working in the food industry fulltime.
Growing up in Manchester, Harbaugh lived and worked on her family’s farm. She took interest in food from an early age; from providing nightly dinners to her large family as a child, to offering catering services for weddings and graduation parties on the side while she stayed home when her children were young.
Outside of school, Annette enjoys being outdoors and spending time with her family. Her husband, Kevin, is a 5th grade teacher for the West Delaware School District; her daughter, Stephanie, will be moving back to the area to be a Physician’s Assistant at Regional Family Medical Center; her son-in-law, Will, will be moving back to the area to be a Doctor at Unity Point Health’s Allen Memorial Hospital; her son, Christopher, is a Guidance Counselor at East Union High School; and her youngest, Mackenzie, is an All American volleyball player attending Coe College.
As the Food Service Director, Harbaugh’s is eager to, “Get the ICSD students interested in the food they are consuming. I want them to know that food can be fun and that eating healthier can mean eating great tasting food!”
Harbaugh will be instrumental in helping the district further develop the Food Service Department and the Farm 2 School Program.
