Mustangs Welcome New Agricultural Education Teacher

October 4, 2016 (Independence, IA) – The Independence Community School District (ICSD) is excited to welcome Michael Haden to the school staff.  Haden has filled the role of Agricultural Educator and FFA Advisor.

Haden is originally from Primghar, Iowa and attended South O’Brien High School in northwest Iowa. While in high school, Haden was actively involved in FFA, track, baseball, cross country and jazz band. He graduated in May of 2005.

After graduation Michael went on to Iowa State University (ISU) where he received a BS in Agricultural Business and a MS Agricultural Education. He graduated from ISU in May of 2010.

d FFA Advisor for the Oelwein Community School District for the last two years.

Mr. Haden is excited to join the ICSD. He has a few goals in mind for this year:

  1. Increase the number of students currently enrolled in agricultural education classes.
  2. Increase FFA membership and FFA chapter community activities.
  3. Raise agricultural awareness in the community through educational opportunities.

He states, “I’m eager to provide a quality educational experience in the area of agriculture to students in grades 7-12 and serve as the FFA advisor for the Independence FFA Chapter.”

Michael currently lives in Independence with his wife Cara, who is a swine veterinarian for Pipestone Vet Clinic and their 10 month old son Flynn. When not in the classroom, Michael can be found raising livestock, gardening, running a marathon or bicycling and spending time with family and friends.
