Mustangs Welcome New High School Math Teacher

September 1, 2016 (Independence, IA) – The Independence Community School District (ICSD) is excited to welcome Hannah Burns to the school staff.  Burns has filled the role of high school mathematics teacher.

Hannah graduated from North-Linn High School in 2008. After graduation she went on to Upper Iowa University where she received her Bachelors of Science degree. She continued her education and completed her Master of Arts at the University of Northern Iowa. For the past four years, Hannah taught high school math in Dunkerton for the Dunkerton Community School District.

Hannah says, “My goal this year is to focus on the importance of mathematics in everyday life and in real-world situations.”

Outside of school, Hannah can be found outdoors and spending time with her family and friends. She enjoys running 5 and 10k races and horseback riding. Her husband, Matt, farms in Winthrop and daughter Evelyn is 6 months old.
