Mustangs Welcome New Volleyball Coach

September 17, 2015 (Independence, IA) – The Independence Community School District (ICSD) is delighted to introduce Maddie Forsyth as the new 9th grade volleyball coach and assistant Varsity volleyball coach.

Ms. Forsyth graduated from Charles City High School in 2010. While in high school Forsyth was involved in volleyball and was second-team All-State. After high school she went on to Wartburg College where she helped the Knights with their conference championship. While at Wartburg, she majored in elementary education and also got her reading and special education endorsements.

Since graduating from Wartburg, Forsyth has been doing a great job as a kindergarten teacher here in the Independence Community School District. She is excited to take on the role of 9th grade volleyball coach and assistant varsity volleyball coach. She says, “I am working with such a great group of girls. They work hard every day and have great attitudes. I really enjoy coaching them!”

Maddie currently lives in Rowley with her Fiancé Ryan and their dog Rocky. When she’s not teaching, Ms. Forsyth enjoys reading, and spending time with family and friends.

Maddie states, “My goal is to help each athlete reach her full potential. I want to share my passion for volleyball and give each athlete the resources to succeed. I hope to build a positive team atmosphere where everyone accepts the role they are given.”

With Forsyth’s enthusiasm and positivity, she will be instrumental in helping lead the Mustangs into a successful season. Feel free to contact Ms. Forsth at mforsyth@independence.k12.ia.us or by calling (319) 334-7405.
