Semi-Pro Football Team to Call Leinbaugh Field Home

November 19, 2014 (Independence, IA) – The Independence Community School District is excited to announce that a new semi-professional football team, the East Iowa Storm, will be playing at Leinbaugh Field next summer.

The East Iowa Storm is part of the Midwest Football League and will run May through August; with playoffs, championship games and an all-star game after the season ends. In addition to football, The Storm hopes to be active in the Independence community; including youth programs, Veterans benefits, charity fundraisers and more.

The team will rely on sponsorships, merchandise sales, and other fundraisers to fund its operation. Any excess funds at the end of the year will be donated to charity or established into a scholarship for area youth.
