Straw Signs National Letter of Intent with ISU

November 12, 2014 (Independence, IA) – In a 3 pm press conference held at the Independence Jr/Sr High School, Mustang wrestler Chase Straw signed a National Letter of Intent on Wednesday, November 12 for the 2015-16 Iowa State University wrestling season.

Straw is ranked as the No. 16 152 – pounder in the nation by wrestling news magazine WIN’s 2014-15 preseason National High School Rankings. Straw, a two time state place winner has a career record of 137-9 heading into his senior season, having placed third in his state tournament as a sophomore and junior.  He also earned All American honors this past summer in Fargo after placing eighth in Junior Greco. Straw is projected to wrestle at 157 pounds for the Cyclones.

“Chase Straw is a very talented kid that strives for success in everything he does,” said Mustang’s head wrestling coach, Michael Doyle. “We are very excited about him competing with the Cyclones and taking his talents to the next level.”
