Student Mentor Program to Celebrate 20th Year of Service
October 23, 2013 (Independence, IA) –We are calling on all past, present and future mentors and mentees… the Independence Community School District Student and Mentor Program is celebrating 20 years of making a difference and you’re invited! 
The open house celebration will be held on Friday, November 1st from 5:00 pm -7:00 pm at the Jr./Sr. High School with a brief program at 6:00 pm in the auditorium. The featured speaker of the evening is Stan Slessor, past Superintendent of the Independence Schools. Mr. Slessor was encouraging and instrumental in beginning the Mentor Program for the district in 1993.
This event is open to the public and we encourage anyone who has ever been a mentor, had a mentor, or is interested in becoming a mentor to stop by. Refreshments and building tours will be available throughout the evening.
